Leila Tarokh, PhD

Leila received her PhD from the Department of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. She is currently a group leader and senior scientist at the University Hospital for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University of Bern in Switzerland.  She is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in the United States.

Chiara Fontanellaz-Castiglione, MSc

PhD Student, clinical psychologist

Chiara received her Masters in Psychology from the University of Bern in 2011. Chiara went on to become a licensed psychotherapist for children and adolescents and has worked, amongst other institutions, at the University Hospital for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern, Switzerland. In late 2018, she started her PhD in Leila's group. In her project, she is studying sleep subtypes in adolescent depression.

Salome Wild, MSc

PhD Student

Salome graduated with a Masters in Psychology from the University of Bern in 2020. During her studies, she was working at the University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) in Basel as a research assistant in a study investigating sleep and a novel treatment approach to pediatric depression (Omega-3-fatty acid supplementation). She is now a PhD student in the Sleep P project, studying long-term associations of sleep and mental health in late childhood.

Sarah Schmidt, BSc

Research Assistant

Sarah received her Bachelors from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 2019, and is currently enrolled in the Masters program in Psychology at the University of Bern. She is presently writing her Masters thesis about associations of sleep and stress in both healthy teens and adolescents with Major Depressive Disorder.

Avelina received her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Bern in 2020. She is currently a Masters student at the University of Bern, where she specializes in clinical psychology and psychotherapy.
